Cobberton Gardens is a diverse terrain that requires strength, imagination, resilience and team work to bring it to its full potential.
Volunteering on the land provides a learning experience that asks you step out of your comfort zone, with support and guidance from our team. It is incredibly rewarding to be a part of creating this space and witnessing its progress, whilst also being supported in your own personal growth and expansion of skills.

The land is a labyrinth that requires each of us to enter into the centre, find our hearts and use that as our compass to ourselves, and others. Each heart and soul that visits the land, is a thread, these threads weave together to complete the tapestry, that is Cobberton Gardens.

Mars walked onto Cobberton Gardens on 11th of Nov 2021 and felt a calling to build a community hub. She is a passionate, optimistic, driven and generous woman with a hard exterior and a soft inside. Her experience in gardening, woodwork, team leading with a mind for the arts is the perfect match to bring this unique place into reality. Her vision is to have an abundant wellness oasis that nourishes, supports and breathes life into all beings that step into Cobberton Gardens.

Aaron Custance, (Doc) Cobnut No.1
When we first met Doc, we had no idea of the endless well of energy, passion, drive, creative ideas, practical skills, problem solving ability he would bring to Cobberton Gardens. He really is a man that can do it all and will do it with a glint in his eye and a dash of sparkle. Words can’t fully express how much we appreciate this man and how much he has given to the project so far, we truly couldn’t have done it without him.

Jed Chandler, Woodland Manager
Jed is a tree-surgeon with a love for delicately and skillfully pruning & cutting to maximise health of the trees. He is skilled in many practical area’s such as mechanics, electricity and landscaping. But is also a great leader and humanitarian. We’re grateful for his analytical nature that takes time to think things through for the best outcome.

Jack Shwegg, Site Supervisor
‘Jack the Lap’ is the yes man that keeps the can-do Cobnut attitude in full swing. There is always a reason to do a lap of the site and straighten out anything that isn’t in working order. As well as being a fantastic Carpenter and Furniture maker, Jack has one of the warmest hearts we have ever met, along with an equally warming smile.

Clair Bos, Cobnuts Chef
Anyone that has tried Clair’s food, never misses it when she comes down to Devon to visit Mars. We gather around the table to eat, listening to her stories about life and history whilst thinking “what the hell did you put in this food to make it taste this good?”. During the Samhain Banquet she cooked meals for 100 people all on her arga at home. Claire’s financial and physical support as toward the project has been a lifeline for Mars.

Josephine is our dedicated horticulturalist who is also a long standing friend of Mars. She brings the fire and passion for regeneration to inspire the masses.

Sonny is a warm hearted, gentle, kind, mysterious and captivating being. His joyful nature and childlike excitement gives every project a sprinkle of sun, just like the name.

Alex Marsh is a beautiful soul and equally challenging friend. He always comes for a bit of outdoor therapy and a laugh, which brings us a lot of joy.

Whenever Seb turns up, the land and everyone present smiles. He brings a whole load of heart, passion and commitment with no reservations.

Adrian Besser
Mars picked Adrian up one morning to help with removing all the scrap and detritus on the land. Without his help, the land wouldn’t have caught its breath back to commence her recovery.
